A month or so ago, I read several reviews on Yelp about this burger joint called "Umami Burger", but never got a chance to check it out. About a week ago I ran across a post with a link attached on Fabebook that read: Is this the best burger in America? and immediately the article had my attention because I love me a good ol' burger....so I clicked on the link and went on to read how this burger...the "Umami Burger" was a man among burger men and I promise you...if a picture were worth a thousand words, the picture that accompanied the article would be worth a million.
This weekend I had a chance to try the famous Umami Burger @ Umami Burger in Los Angeles. “The Fifth Taste” and by the looks alone, I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this baby. The Umami burger which consist of house ground beef, oven roasted tomatoes, carmelized onions, parmesan frico, sauteed shittake mushrooms, and house made ketchup gave this burger a great range of flavors that explodeded in my mouth. I also got a chance to taste the SoCal Burger which was just as tasty. The menu was simple and straight forward and full of gourmet and specialty ingredients like Chorizo, Manchego, Truffle, Truffle Cheese and Blue cheese with Port Caramelized Onions just to name a few. Only downside for me is that the burgers are a little small. I don't know about the best in America, but Umami Burger is definitely worth trying and I guarantee you will walk out of there with a smile on your face.
